Full Honda – Race 4 – Bayford Meadows R10

The last round of the Bayford Summer Championship was eventful as always.

Practice on Saturday was excellent, we finally got to the bottom of the tyre issues from the last round, one set of tyres in the bin and lower pressures moving forward.

By the 4th session James was fastest on track, the 5th session we scrubbed in new slicks and finished the day with James’ fastest lap ever of Bayford without a tow. Next Race day……..

Wet qualifying and we only have a set of brand new wets. Not ideal! That as it turned out was the least of James’ worries, I forgot to do the right front wheel up, I set the front ride height too high, a left front wheel bearing tightened and the engine moved tightening the chain!! All my fault as James pointed out very clearly when he got out of the kart. No one in Kent was in any doubt whose fault it was.

James qualified a disappointed 11th.

Pre-final 1 – the best I think James has ever driven, 11th to 5th on inters in very tricky conditions, just missing out on Fastest lap.

Pre-final 2 – Another great race, he just took too long to get past one driver, finished 3rd 1.5 secs behind the winner.

Starting the Grand final 4th hopes were high, but contact at the first corner bumped James down to 10th. A little disheartened to say the least, James pushed on to finish 8th. A disappointing result as a podium finish looked likely all weekend.

Next race, we are finally going to try another track, Buckmore Park, in sunny December!

Thanks as always to Tom McMurray, Virtus Motorsport, Lewis Hall, Billy Monger and the ongoing support of the Arora Group.
