James Higgins has his sights set on more silverware this weekend (12-13 August) as the ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA makes its annual trip north of the border to Knockhill for Rounds 22, 23 & 24 of the 2023 season.
Hot on the heels of clinching his fourth podium of the year at Croft last time out, the Fortec Motorsport driver hits the road to Scotland with high aspirations as he continues his bid for a top-five championship finish.
Chalking up victories at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park – the latter being in the series’ milestone 250th race – already this season, the 17-year-old is ready to get his elbows out and compete for wins and podiums from the get-go.
The Goblin EV-backed racer heads to the picturesque Scottish countryside having already sampled the undulating 1.27-mile Fife layout at an in-season test earlier in the year; clocking a string of impressive lap times.
Saturday’s all-important qualifying session is scheduled to take place at 10:25 before its light out for race one later that afternoon at 16:15. Race two on Sunday morning kicks off at 10:20 before the third and final contest – which will be broadcast live on ITV4 – starts at 15:20.
James Higgins: “I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel and taking on Knockhill this weekend. It’s a circuit that presents a real unique challenge and is a place that always produces exciting racing.
“Looking back on the season so far we’ve had really strong pace at pretty much everywhere we’ve been however sometimes luck has evaded us; Croft was a prime example of that because had we not been tipped into the gravel on lap one we could have been on for a win I think.
“Everyone at Fortec Motorsport has been doing a phenomenal job this season and like every event, we’ve ensured that no stone is being left unturned for this weekend.
“Qualifying is going to be key so it’ll be about hooking a lap up and then its game on for the weekend’s three races. I’m hungry for more wins and podiums; that’s the only target I’ve got heading to Knockhill.”
