James Higgins to make racing return with CSA Racing in McLaren Trophy
James Higgins will make his eagerly-anticipated return to full-time competition this year after agreeing a deal to contest the McLaren Trophy with CSA Racing.
Embarking on what is an exciting new chapter in his career, the British racer will look to make a name for himself on the European stage as he teams up with Pierre Edgar to drive a McLaren Arturo Trophy EVO in the coveted single-make championship.
In addition to this new drive, Higgins has also aligned with Autoglym, a leading British manufacturer of premium car care products; with their logos set to feature across Higgins’ car and race suit during the year.
Quickly rising through the karting ranks during his formative years, Higgins wasted no time in establishing himself when he transitioned into cars as he became a multiple race winner and podium finisher across two seasons of British F4.
Cementing his status as one to watch in the UK’s premier single-seater series, the 2025 campaign saw the Surrey-based driver enjoy plenty of seat time as he conducted multiple tests in GB3 and GT3 machinery, as well as helping coach drivers in British F4.
After exploring his options for the forthcoming 2026 season, Higgins will now team up with successful French squad CSA Racing – an outfit that boasts a rich pedigree of competing in the likes of the McLaren Trophy and GT World Challenge Europe.
Showing impressive speed across pre-season testing so far, Higgins heads into the new term brimming with confidence and relishing the prospect of what he, Edgar and CSA Racing can achieve together.
James Higgins: “I’m really excited to be taking on this new challenge and making the switch across to GT racing. It’s a discipline I’ve always admired and an avenue that can hopefully open up many new doors for me in years to come.
“Sitting out last season wasn’t the original plan but it proved to be hugely beneficial. It allowed me to build up a coaching portfolio and also gave me the opportunity to test a variety of cars, one of them being the McLaren Arturo Trophy EVO.
“From the time I’ve spent in the car so far it’s all been really encouraging. My driving style suits the McLaren and we’ve been able to steadily chip away at getting things dialled in. Along with Pierre and the backing of the CSA crew, I think we’ve got a solid team.
“Going into the season I want to be competitive so if we can be mixing it at the sharp end, battling for win and podiums, then that will be great. I’m excited to race at some amazing circuits too; so hopefully we can spray some champagne along the way.”
The 2026 McLaren Trophy season – which consists of two rounds per meeting – begins on the 29-31 May at Monza in Italy before then going on to race at Spa-Francorchamps, Misano, Barcelona and Portimao.
